The Cycle of Good
The Journey of a Blazer.
Every item donated to Evansville Goodwill carries a history, but more importantly, it carries potential.
Every item donated to Evansville Goodwill carries a history, but more importantly, it carries potential. When you drop off a box of gently used clothing, that single action initiates a chain across our Tri-State community.
To see what impact looks like in real time, follow the story of one single blazer as it moves through the Cycle of Good.
Step 1: The Act of Giving
When Melissa packed up a box of donations and drove to the Evansville Goodwill Henderson location donation center, she was clearing out clutter from her home. Nestled right at the top of the box sat a classic blazer—a piece that had served her well, but was ready for its next chapter.
As a team member greeted her with a smile and took the box, Katey offered one last glance to an old favorite, knowing her donation was about to do something good.
Step 2: Processing with Care
Behind the scenes, Evansville Goodwill team members carefully sort, inspect, and price thousands of donated goods every single day.
When the blazer arrived at processing, a team member inspected the quality, placed it on a hanger, and prepped it for the sales floor. These processing jobs provide meaningful employment, and often second chances for local workers right here in Southwestern Indiana, Western Kentucky, and Southeastern Illinois.
Step 3: A New Discovery
On the sales floor of the Henderson store, Laura was browsing the racks. She had an important job interview coming up and needed a polished, professional outfit on a budget.
Browsing the racks, she spotted the blazer. It fit perfectly, looked sharp, and gave her an immediate boost of confidence.
Retail revenue generated from your store purchases directly funds tuition-free adult education at The Excel Center, skills courses at GoodSkills Academy, and local employment placement services.

Step 4: The Cycle Continues
Adjusting her collar and taking a deep breath, Laura walked up to the doors of a local business with a "Now Hiring" sign in the window. Wearing that blazer, she stepped inside ready to seize a brand-new career opportunity.
